What’s on TV

14th
August 2008

Lately, I’ve been watching less and less TV, probably because of my fledgling social status (echoes of bullshit reverberate from the background). I think it’s also that there just isn’t that much on lately. September shall change that however with Prison Break, Heroes and Dexter launching their new seasons. Anyways, I thought I would give a cap of what I think of the upcoming (and/or current) seasons of the TV shows I’m a fan of…

Prison Break

I must admit, even with all the praise that the latest season of the show has been getting, I wasn’t a big fan of the storyline of it. The whole break-out just didn’t have the epic-ness of the first season. I would even go so far as to say Prison Break should’ve been a one-season pony, since there’s hardly been any jail-breaking after Season 1.

To make matters worse, they decide to bring back Sara Tancredi, the love interest of Michael who loses her head, literally. I am looking forward to seeing what dead-shit reason they come up with to explain how she went from being headless and dead to brainless and alive.

I must admit I’m not exactly pining to find out how Michael takes down “The Company” as well, because I think it will be a long, drawn out process and I can only imagine the task will be never-ending, as “The Company” are everywhere. I’m more interested in the storyline of Sucre and how he deals with a prison which is run by T-Bag (who Robert Knepper never ceases to impress with this intimidating and downright evil character).

24

I’m really excited for the next season of 24 to be honest, and am willing to let the bad taste that Season 6 left in my mouth slide, but it’s got REALLY high expectations to live up to now. It has had a whole 2 years to build up a really powerful storyline, so if they stuff this up, FOX might as well throw the show in the bin and call it a day.

Since this season is what the creators are calling a “reboot of the franchise”, it’ll be interesting just how different they take it this season. I am definitely looking forward to it, mainly to see why Tony Almeida has seemingly taken a leap to the dark side, but also to see Jack Bauer front up for his crime of being a merciless, blood-thirsty psycho for the last 6 seasons. Can’t wait, but also can’t let my guard down if it’s shit.

Heroes

This is another show I’m looking forward to. Just like Empire Strikes Back from the Star Wars saga, this upcoming season of Heroes should show us the bad guys making an insurgence into the series. Considering it’s been mostly Sylar up until now, to see some more bad guys is a welcome change of pace, not to mention the tantilising idea of good characters going bad. Hopefully not Peter, cos he would blow up the entire world.

Dexter

Thoughts of Dexter’s upcoming series will be posted when I’ve finished Season Two. So far, it’s looking promising however… :)

Sigh

May 2007

Haven’t updated this blog in a while because I haven’t had a lot to say. Well… that’s still the case, but I need to update this anyway. TAFE is shitting me at the moment, I can’t find even the slightest amount of effort to do any of the work, and we only have a couple of weeks left. I should soldier on because it’s the last bit of learning I will have to do for a long time, but it’s just so hard :(

Watched all the available episodes of Heroes last week. I can’t say I was particularly drawn into the show when I saw the first episode all those months back on TV, but after watching it again with a more open mind, it has now become one of my favourite TV shows. I love how well written each episode is, and enjoyed each episode, causing me to not be able to wake up in the mornings because I wanted to watch ‘just one more episode’ the previous night. If you don’t watch or like the show, I urge you to look at it with an open mind, and you’ll enjoy every minute of it.

My other “favourite” show however, 24, has seemed to take a nose-dive into the “predictable plotlines and annoying characters” territory. The current series started off absolutely excellent, one of the best introduction to a series ever, and then by about episode 6 or 7, the excitement and clever story just withered away. I am almost convinced not to watch any more series after this, as I feel they have killed the series, I mean… how many bad days can one man have? I’m pretty sure I knew how this day would end by around episode 13, it’s that predictable.

Well there, I’ve updated it. See you all in 3 months. :)
